Bentley OpenUtilities CONNECT Edition Help

Primary Distribution System Criteria Page (Electric Optimization Wizard)

lets you specify values for the analysis variables used in optimizing the design's primary conductors and fuses. Modifications to the default values are applied in the analysis of the current design and are not saved for the next design session.

SettingDescription
Load Power Factor (%) The ratio between real power and apparent power. The closer the factor is to 1.0 (or 100%), the more efficient the system. In Bentley OpenUtilities Designer, the Load Power Factor is expressed as a percentage. Limited to a value between 0 and 100. A typical setting is 90%.
Load Multiplier (per unit) An additional multiplier used by some utility companies. Limited to a value between 0 and 2.00. A typical setting is 1.0.
Maximum Allowable Voltage Drop (%) The maximum allowable percentage drop in the nominal voltage of the primary system. Limited to a value between 0 and 5.00. Typical settings for primary systems are between 2.5% and 3.5%.
Maximum Initial Conductor Loading (%) The percentage of the conductor load rating that is to be used as the ceiling for initial loading (to allow for future load growth). Limited to a value between 0 and 100. A typical setting for primary facilities is 60%.
Allowable Line Overloading (%) The percentage by which the conductor load rating can be safety exceeded for a limited duration. Limited to a value between 0 and 200. A typical setting is 125%.
